Who is eligible?

The "Long Service Gratuity" recognizes long-term service. It is awarded to teachers and staff members, whether currently employed or retired, who meet the following criteria: they must have reached the age of 65 by January 1 of the award year and completed at least 25 years (300 months) of cumulative service in any independent Chinese Secondary school nationwide by the same date. The eligibility requirements for the "Long-term Service Gratitude Fund" are outlined as follows:

  1. Applicants must be current or retired independent Chinese Secondary school teachers or staff who have reached the age of 65 or older by January 1 of the issuance year. (Note: For the first issuance in 2024, applicants must have turned 65 by 31st December 2023. For example, those born on or before 31st December 1958, are eligible for the first issuance, while those born on 1st January 1959, or later are eligible for subsequent issuances).
  2. This programme is open to applicants of all races, nationalities, teaching subjects, or languages.
  3. Applicants must be alive at the time an application is filled; the fund is not applicable for family members who represent the deceased.
  4. must have been formally employed as teachers or staff by independent Chinese Secondary school, receiving a monthly salary and entitled to government-mandated benefits such as EPF and SOCSO. Part-time, temporary, advisory, directorial, outsourcing, and contractors are not considered (applicants must provide a Service Certificate issued by the school).
  5. Applicants must have accumulated over 25 years of service in any independent Chinese Secondary school nationwide (equivalent to 300 months) before January 1 of the issuance year. Continuous service within the same school is considered; any interruptions, including leaves without pay, should be deducted (for the first issuance in 2024, the service period must be completed by December 31, 2023).

  7. Applicants must log into www.thankyouteacher.my website to register their information before the application deadline. The uploaded information will be verified by the respective school, and only those approved by the organizer will be included in the list of recipients for the current year.

While waiting for the independent Chinese secondary school to verify your information, you can check your application status on the "thankyouteacher.my" website or app.
If you have any questions, please contact the appropriate independent Chinese secondary school or MSEF.

Upon verification by the independent Chinese econdary school, the system will send the relevant information to the Malaysian Social Entrepreneurs Fund (MSEF)
backend administrator for final review. After verification and approval, a notification will be issued.
Step 6
Applicants eligible for the gratitude grant must attend
the "Teacher Appreciation Luncheon" and participate in the award ceremony.
How to Apply?
The "Long Service Gratuity" is being established by the Malaysian Social Entrepreneurs Fund (MSEF) and will be available to eligible faculty and staff starting in 2024. After a review process, qualified individuals will receive the Long Service Gratuity for ten consecutive years or until their passing.
Applicants are required to submit their materials for review before the application deadline. Submission is only necessary once.
Qualified applicants who pass the review will receive a "Long Service Gratuity" seven times a year, totaling RM6,000 annually.
First payment – RM3000
Attended the Teacher Appreciation Dinner
in June of that year and received RM3,000
on the spot,which was the first remittance
of RM3,000 that year.
The remaining amount - RM500 x 6 months
From July to December, each month
will receive a remittance of RM500.
